Happy 4th of July from all the gang at Spencer Boatworks!
We are pleased to announce that we are in the process of moving into a new temporary location which will house us until we rebuild. Look for us at 372 Broadway in Saranac Lake, NY right next door to Fastenal. Our office and operation should be up and running in this location the week of July 11th.
In the meantime you can still contact us by calling 518-891-5828 or by e-mail to: carey@spencerboatworks.com.
Don't forget that our Fourth Annual Runabout Rendezvous will be held along the beautiful shores of Lake Flower on Saturday, July 9, 2011. There is a $25 entry fee to display your boat. There is a dinner fee of $35 for those entrants that wish to join us later that evening. Entrants should be on site and set up by 10 am. Contact Carey to register.
The Fourth Annual Runabout Rendezvous is proud to be part of Saranac Lake's Great Adirondack Days. Make Saranac Lake your destination vacation place. Come and join us from 10am – 3pm. Free to the viewing public.

Spencer Boatworks has accomplished quite a bit in the 4 days since the fire.
Our main phone line – 518-891-5828 - is back in service with calls being forwarded to Carey Sayles our Office Manager in a temporary office. We now have a computer hooked up (thanks to one of our wonderful customers) and are able to access our marine software. We also have e-mail: carey@spencerboatworks.com and sbw@logical.net. Please feel free to contact us in any of these manners.
We have set up very temporary work space in 2 locations at the moment and are able to make service calls as well as continuing work in order to keep some of our commitments.
We are actively seeking a location to move our operations into and hope to have something soon. So look for us to be in a new location until we are able to rebuild.
We've had many questions –
Q: How did it happen? A: Fire investigators said the fire was started due to a lightning strike.
Q: How many boats were inside? A: We can only say that, yes, there were boats inside and yes some of them were "the old wooden type". It's obvious that we have had a significant loss. We cannot give specifics in order to protect our employees and our customers.
Q: Do you have insurance? A: Yes, Spencer Boatworks is fully insured.
That being said, we are compiling a list of customers who may have suffered a loss in the fire. If you think you may have lost something, please contact us so that we may add you to the list. Those of you who have suffered a loss should contact your insurance company as soon as possible. If your loss is not insured; please put in writing the details of your loss and mail it to Spencer Boatworks, P O Box 144, Saranac Lake, NY 12983
We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our employees, the community, our customers and the many firemen who were both on and off sight on the night of the fire. Words are inadequate to express our thanks to everyone.
Please keep checking the website www.spencerboatworks.com for more updates. And again, look for us in a new temporary location that will suit ours and your needs until we are able to rebuild.

May 28,2011
Spencer Boatworks main shop was destroyed by fire early Saturday morning May 28, 2011 due to severe storms and a lightening strike. While the building’s loss is significant, there were no injuries and we are very thankful for that. We are also thankful that we did not lose any of the storage buildings.
The good news is that we are still doing business and plan to serve our customers in our usual manner. We will begin doing service work and service calls as early as Wednesday, June 1st.
We only ask that you please be patient while we work through getting a shop in place. We will be contacting customers as soon we are able to get phones and a computer with our customer records back up and running.
We also ask that folks please refrain from visiting the site of the fire for your own safety and the safety of our employees.
In the meantime, please feel free to contact us in the following manner:
Jay’s cell – 518-637-2040
Carey’s cell – 518-572-4496
E-mail: carey@spencerboatworks.com
Keep checking www.spencerboatworks.com for updates. And look for us in a new temporary location real soon.
Thank-you for your business and loyalty to Spencer Boatworks. It’s our customers that make us strong!
Jay Annis and the entire staff.
